Deaf/Hard of Hearing Services
Sullivan & Associates, Inc. provides support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing people with mental retardation or mental health concerns. These services are available in the Springfield, Pittsfield and Worcester areas.
These services include:
- Individualized community based residential and day supports.
- Deaf staff who naturally bring their culture and communication to the people they support.
- Hearing staff who are fluent in American Sign Language.
- Staff Interpreter Joan Wattman MS, who is certified through the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (CSC, CI/CT, SC:L)
- Access to additional Interpreter Services though Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH).
- Coordination with MCDHH Case Management staff.
- Coordination with Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission staff (MRC)
- Ongoing Deaf/HOH Culture Training for employees.
- American Sign Language classes taught by a Deaf Instructor
- Access to local Deaf communities and Independent Living Centers throughout Western MA.
- Deaf Club for people supported by Sullivan & Associates, Inc.
- Homes equipped with adaptive technology/equipment
- Ongoing consultation with the DMR and DMH Statewide Deaf Services Coordinators.
- Interpreters available for staff training and staff meetings for Deaf staff.
- Deaf/blind supports including consultation with the Helen Keller Institute and the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind.
